W.P. Brandt

W.P. “Doc” Brandt, 20 Indian Hills Road, died Tuesday following a long illness. He was 66.

Born in Pottawattamie County, Mr. Brandt was a lifetime resident of the area. He was a retired district manager for Farmers National Co. in Omaha, retiring in 1984 after 25 years service.

Mr. Brandt was a former member of the Iowa Air National Guard and a World War II veteran, serving in the Air Force. He also was a member of Ducks Unlimited.

Mr. Brandt and his wife, Betty J., observed their 42nd wedding anniversary in July.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Dean (Kathie) Junker and Paulette Kill of Council Bluffs; a sister, Mrs. George (Irene) Walker of Council Bluffs; six grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Cutler Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Wayne Selsor, interim pastor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, will officiate. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service. Graveside military rites will be conducted at the Plumer Settlement Cemetery.

Family visitation is from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
