GLENWOOD — Joseph W. Fullenwider, 83, retired Mills County farmer died Wednesday at a Clarinda nursing home.

Funeral services will be held here at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Raynor, Lett and Kent Funeral Home, with the Rev. George Durkee officiating and burial at Plumer Settlement Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Max Shook of Loveland, Colo.; sister, Mrs. Lavenia Plummer of Maryville, Mo.; half-sister, Mrs. Helen Simpson of Colorado; and four half-brothers, Henry, Woodrow, and John, all of Colorado, and Bill of California.

Fullenwider had moved to Conway in 1955 and had resided in Clarinda since August 1970.

Funeral services for Joseph W. Fullenwider were held at the Raynor, Lett and Kent Funeral Home on Dec. 9 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. George Durkee officiating. Interment was in the Plumer Settlement Cemetery.

Mrs. Richard Karr and Mrs. Alex Christensen sang musical selections accompanied by Mrs. Francis Dashner, organist. Casket bearers were Marvin Plummer, Harold Plummer, Pid Plummer, Dale Hackett, Herbert Nansel and Ellis Shackelford.

He was born May 22, 1889 in Nodaway County, Mo. and passed away on Dec. 6, 1972 at Clarinda, Ia. William and Maude Fullenwider were his parents.

As a child his family moved to the San Luis Valley in Colorado. When his mother died, he came back to Nodaway County in Missouri and was raised by his grandparents. As a young man he moved to Co. Bluffs and worked on the Union Pacific Railroad for several years. He was united in marriage to Sophia Lovese Schupp on Jan. 7, 1914 in Co. Bluffs, later moving to a farm in Missouri and also in Iowa. He was the father of 3 daughters, Mary Lovese, Ruth Ester and Lavenia Olive.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Lavenia Shook of Loveland, Colo., 3 granddaughters, one grandson; one great-grandson, one sister, Mrs. Lavenia Plummer of Maryville, Mo., one half sister, Mrs. Helen Simpson of Villa Grove, Colo., 4 half brothers, John, Henry and Woodrow Fullenwider, all of Villa Grove, Colo., and Bill Fullenwider of California. He was preceded in death by his wife; 2 daughters, Mary Fullenwider and Ruth Lemonds; one brother, John, and two sisters, Myra and Jessie.
