John C. Nevin

John Charles Nevin was born June 21, 1943, to Merle and Luella (Plumer) Nevin in Omaha, Nebraska. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Omaha. John attended Omaha Benson High School, where he was a member of the Benson Bunnies football and swim teams as well as marching and concert bands. He enjoyed playing the trumpet, coronet and baritone. After graduating from high school in 1961, John attended Iowa State University for one year, then joined the U.S. Navy. He graduated Honor Man (of 2000 men) from Great Lakes Training Station and was assigned to the Pacific Fleet. He was trained in the Quartermaster Corps and eventually became the Captain's driver.

John was employed with U.S. Steel in Indiana, Miller Brewing in Milwaukee, and Anheuser Busch in St. Louis. After retirement, he had a variety of small businesses. John enjoyed golf, boating, blackjack, his Harley motorcycle, drinking beer, foods of all kinds, family history, and celebrating life with his family and friends.

John was previously married to Cherie Haaheim, and together they had a daughter, Lisa. On February 22, 2007, in a ceremony surrounded by family and close friends, Lisa was married on the island of Kauai, Hawaii to Nate Hopper. Nate and Lisa reside in St. Louis, Missouri.

On September 7, 2007, family and friends celebrated John's marriage to Tina Thompson, in a ceremony on Sapphire Point overlooking Lake Dillon in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Officiating at the ceremony was John's sister Sharon Rouse and his close friend Denny Jarvis.

John is survived by his wife Tina, daughter Lisa and her husband Nate Hopper, all of St. Louis, and sister Sharon Rouse of Denver, as well as family and friends who will all miss his smile, wit, and companionship.
