Caroline Wendel Niemoller, daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth Von Wendel, was born in Obendorp, province of Westphalie, kingdom of Prussia, October 29, 1857, and passed away at her home in Mills County, Iowa, November 1, 1954, age 97 years and 2 days.

When she was 18, she came to America with an aunt and uncle, settling first in Cincinnatti, Ohio, where she married Christian Niemoller in 1880. This young couple came west and settled in Council Bluffs and resided there for 21 years, later moving to a farm in Mills County where they resided for 52 years.

Her family was of Prussian nobility, her grandfather being Baron Von Wendel, who was a general at the battle of Waterloo, where he commanded 40,000 prussian troops. The black and white ribbon which she wore in death was a nobility decoration.

She is survived by her sons, John of Mineola and Charlie of Council Bluffs; a daugher, Mrs. Edna Wall of RIverside, Calif. One son, Fred, died in 1943, and another son, Arthur, died in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death in 1942.

She also leaves seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
