Mrs. Charles Plumer, Sr.
Dies At Age of 92 Years

Mrs. Charles C. Plumer, Sr., 92, died Tuesday morning at Glen Haven Home where she had been a resident for some time.

Mrs. Plumer was born Aug. 9, 1875, in Pottawattamie county but she had spent all her married life in Mills county.

She was a member of the second class to graduate from the Jennie Edmundson School of Nursing in 1898 and was the oldest living graduate of the nursing school. She was a member of the Women's Christian Association of the hospital and also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Glenwood.

Her husband died July 10, 1967. They had moved to Glenwood from the farm in the Mineola area in 1953 and observed their 50th wedding anniversary in 1958.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Pauline) Carter of Las Vegas, Nev., Mrs. Merle (Luella) Nevin of Omaha and Mrs. David H. (Marie) Ewing of Wayne, Neb.; three sons, Charles C. and Albert of Glenwood and Alfred of Council Bluffs; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. D. J. Crockett officiating. Burial will be in the Plumer cemetery. Raynor, Lett and Kent Funeral Home is in charge.


MRS. CHARLES PLUMER, SR.

Augusta Pauline Plumer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Turk, was born Aug. 9, 1875, in Hazel Dell township, Pottawattamie county, and died Feb. 27 at Glen Haven at the age of 92 years, six months and 16 days.

As an infant, she was baptized in the Lutheran Church. In her early teens she became a member of the Lutheran CHurch. She had been a member of Salem Lutheran Church in the Plumer Settlement, of St. John Lutheran Church of Mineola for many years and of Trinity Lutheran Church of Glenwood. She was active in the work of the Ladies' Aid Society.

Mrs. Plumer attended public schools in the area of her birth. Her profession was that of registered nurse, being a graduate of the second class of nurses in 1898 from Jennie Edmundson Hospital. She practiced nursing upon graduation in Jennie Edmundson Hospital and in many homes in Southwest Iowa.

On Dec. 30, 1908, she became the bride of Charles Christopher Plumer, Sr. They were the parents of three sons and three daughters—Charles, Jr., and Albert of Glenwood and Alfred of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Harold (Pauline) Carter of Las Vegas, Nev., Mrs. Merle (Luella) Nevin of Omaha and Mrs. David (Marie) Ewing of Wayne, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Fred and Edward; a sister, Anna, and her husband, Charles Plumer, Sr.

In addition to her six children, she is survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday afternoon from Glenwood's Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor D. J. Crockett officiating. Music was by Mrs. Kenneth Lahmann, soloist, and Mrs. Carl Buch, organist. Mrs. Luella King was in charge of the memorial book.

Levon Rohrberg and Virgil Rohrberg were ushers. Flower bearers were Mrs. C. E. Myers, Mrs. Ralph Morse and Mrs. Victor Young. Pallbearers were Bert Colwell, Ralph Morse, Arthur Reinert, Randel Reinert, Arnim Young and Woodrow Schoening. Burial was in Plumer cemetery. Raynor, Lett and Kent Funeral Home was in charge.
