Louis Wortmann Is Buried On Friday

Funeral services were held Friday, December 19, at Campbell Funeral Home for Louis H. Wortmann, 95, who died December 17, 1980, at Good Shepherd Home in Blair. Rev. Gordon Patterson conducted the services. Burial was in Plummer ( should read “Plumer”) Cemetery in Glenwood, Iowa.

Louis H. Wortmann was born on September 19, 1885, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. His parents were Peter and Mary Micheels Wortmann. A farmer, he never married.

He grew up on the farm on which he was born. He farmed until 1927, when he moved to Blair. He also worked for Hans Aye in the carpentry business.

In his late years, he lived with his sister, Lucy Petersen, who survives, and as long as he was able he passed his time with gardening and yard work.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Mary Wortmann, four sisters, Mrs. William (Augusta) Mitchell, Mrs. John (Minnie) Lorsch, Mrs. Fred (Selma) Borvley (should read “Bowley”), Mrs. William (Hulda) Bowley and one half sister, Mrs. Emil (Anna) Rathjen.

He is survived by one sister, Lucinda Petersen, of Blair. Nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive him.

Clare Cowing was organist for the services. Homer Nielsen provided the vocal music.

Pallbearers were Otto Matzen, John Lorsch, Delbert Bowley, Howard Thompson, Hans Mommsen, and Odell Bowley.

Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for the services.
